Hensley Rose Renae Hughes, 6, of Girard, Kansas gained her angel wings on Monday, April 1, 2024 at the Girard Medical Center.
Hensley was born October 17, 2017 in Pittsburg, to Patrick and Kelsey (Barton) Hughes. She attended R.V. Haderlein Elementary school where she was in kindergarten.
Hensley was a sweet, adventurous, strong willed, little country girl who lit up everyone’s lives. She loved God, gymnastics, fishing, and all things girly. Her life consisted of riding her 4-wheeler, shooting her pink BB gun, chasing butterflies, and tormenting her older brothers. She loved all animals and wanted to be a veterinarian. Hensley was not afraid of anything and will be missed by everyone.
Hensley attended FLAG church.
She is survived by her mother, Kelsey Hughes, her father, Patrick Hughes, two brothers, Ryan and Brody Hughes, maternal grandparents, Curt and Teresa Thomas, paternal grandparents, David and Cathy Hughes, maternal great-grandmother, Mary Patton and paternal great-grandmother, Nina Madl.
A service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2024, at FLAG Church with Pastor Anthony Navaratnam officiating. Burial will follow in the Girard City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at FLAG Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to help offset funeral expenses.
