Betty Hanson Obituary

Betty June Londeen Hanson, 94, of Pittsburg, Kansas, formerly of North Little Rock, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

She was born June 28, 1929 in Hope, Dickinson, Kansas, to the late Elmer and Bertha Rebecca (Eisenhower) Londeen. She grew up in Kansas and graduated from Chapman High School, followed by normal school training (teaching). She taught multiple elementary levels in a one room school house in Dickinson County, then moved to Wichita and worked for the Boeing Aircraft Company for several years. Betty was an avid sport but and played semi-pro softball and basketball while living in Wichita.

Betty married Thomas “Tommy” Dale Hanson on February 28, 1955, and moved to Oklahoma for a short time while he was on the PGA tour. She and Tommy later settled with their children in Sherwood, Arkansas and lived in the Pulaski County area for the next 56 years.                                                          

Betty is survived by two daughters, Donita Hanson Dupslaff and her husband, Martin and Teresa Hanson Staples and her husband, Rick; as well as four grandchildren, Jason Staples, married to Tessa Owen Staples, Derrick Staples, Jon Staples, and Ashley Lipsmeyer Edmondson, and two great-grandchildren, Harper Staples, and Sawyer Staples.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Gilbert E. Londeen, Allen A. Londeen, Wendell J. Londeen, her parents and husband, Tommy, and one daughter, Cheryl A. Hanson.                              

A private graveside service will be held later at Rest Hills Mausoleum, 7724 Landers Rd., North Little Rock, AR. Online condolences may be left at www.brennermortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Brenner Mortuary.
