Edith Marie Hurlbert

Edith Marie (Norris) Hurlbert, 79, of Pittsburg, passed away at 5:55 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the Landmark Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. She was born May 28, 1933 at Pittsburg, to Tennis and Pearl (Slaughter) Norris. On May 1, 1954, she was united in marriage to Roscoe Hurlbert. Mrs. Hurlbert was a homemaker. She was a member of Wesley House, where she was an avid volunteer. She also helped for many years with Project Warmth. Mrs. Hurlbert was a member of the Red Hats Society, UMW, and Waco Women’s Club. She is survived by her husband, Roscoe Hurlbert of Pittsburg; two sons, Larry “Bubba” Hurlbert and partner, David Santee of Green Lake, Wisconsin and Mike Hurlbert and his wife, Tami of Pittsburg; two daughters, Christie Doughty of Opolis and Barbara Clifton of Joplin, MO; one sister, Dorothy Wisdom of Seneca, MO; Ten grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Tennis Norris and Pearl Edmond, a daughter, Marla J. Hurlbert, a granddaughter, Chrystal Marie Doughty, four brothers, Chester Norris, Larry Norris, Willard Norris and her twin, Eddie Norris, and two sisters, Virginia Snell and Mary Lou Talley. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (Aug. 15) at Brenner Mortuary with Rev. Ellie Foster officiating. Burial will follow in the Crocker Cemetery, southeast of Pittsburg. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday (Aug 14) at the Brenner Mortuary, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday.
